Birch Trees: Collection and Inspiration

Hey there! You are all invited to an on-line exhibition of some of the art work that I did this summer. It is a collection of digital photography, digitial collage and drawing. These works are the culminating project for the on-line course, Art Education in a Web 2.0 World from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. You can get to the art work by going here.

I would like to thank the instructors, Rebecca Alm and Emily Hoisington. You are both knowledgeable, tech-savvy and inspirational. Your comments pushed me further with my subject matter.

I would also like to thank the other students in this class for their insightful comments, feedback and friendship. Congratulations to my classmates on their exhibitions and I am looking forward to viewing all their hard work from the past three weeks.

Looking Up

I am continuing to look at birch trees from different perspectives. Currently, my views seem to focus on looking and up and through. I am considering documenting birch trees through all the seasons. There are endless options and possibilities. Please feel free to offer more. There is another image here.

Sequencing Discoveries

Sometimes when we are encouraged to look again, we see trends in our work developing. Often when we are looking intently at a subject matter, we neglect other points of view. I invite you to look at birch trees again. You can narrow and expand your focus through this series of photographs.

Summer Study of Birch Trees

I find that the more I photograph these trees, the more that I expand my point of view beyond just the close ups of various textures. I am integrating more views and have good intentions of integrating more art media in to my study of birch trees. I plan to go outside and draw today if the weather co-operates. There are more of my images of birch trees here on my Flickr site.
